Hong Kong

1. TRIBUTE HOTELS

Tribute is a new select service lifestyle hotel with 24 rooms, located in Yau Ma Tei, one of the oldest districts in Hong Kong. It is a departure from the outdated notions of the typical hotel stay in HK and a return to the comfort, simplicity and joy of connecting to a city and its neighborhood.  The brand pays tribute to a sense of place and community. We collaborate with local entrepreneurs, artists, designers and craftsmen to weave a subtle narrative throughout our hotel.  For example, breakfast is served on dim sum-like carts to grab and go in the morning. Come sundown local craft beer take the place of teas and coffee, encouraging a social and casual environment for our guests to return to. Likeminded travelers are always asking us where they can stay in Hong Kong that has an interesting and thoughtful design aesthetic, that isn’t priced over the moon and reflects a sense of place, Tribute Hotels is now the natural answer. Rates start at USD170++.

2. 99 BONHAM

99 Bonham has 84 spacious (for HK’s standards) light filled rooms and located in the heart of Hong Kong side, a 10 minute walk to central and a 1 minute walk to the nearest MTR station. It’s a hybrid between a service apartment and a hotel which is what is most appealing. It is tastefully designed with a simple colour palette of grey, beige and white. It feels modern and homely. It’s in a thriving neighborhood dotted with new coffee shops, great new eateries as well an excellent choice of local restaurants and shops. They have limited facilities but more than sufficient: Wifi, business centre housekeeping, TV and a small gym. They even have a roof top lounge area to enjoy the cityscape. Rates start at USD160++.

3. TUVE

Tuve is a 66 room hotel with an industrial, minimalist, chic design. There is an extensive use of marble, concrete, metal, blacks, whites and grays and subtly warmed up with some wood furnishings. Some people can find this cold and out of context with no real design references to HK but likely something you would find in Scandinavia, however it can also be a refreshing respite from and contrast to its vibrant wildly stimulating neighborhood. Tin Hau is a thriving destination in itself with easy access to an abundance of restaurants, shops, and charming little nooks such as Tai Hang tucked behind heaving Causeway Bay. They also operate a restaurant – The Silver Room, offering Japanese/Italian cuisine. The hotel is also only a few MTR stops away from HK’s city centre.  Rooms range from 17-30 square metres and Rates start at USD180++.
